Do Crystals Have Healing Properties?
|
Healing crystals have gained popularity in various cultures and practices. As Christians, it’s essential to understand what healing crystals are, their origin, and how they align with what the Bible teaches us.
What Are Healing Crystals?
Healing crystals are minerals or stones believed to possess unique vibrations and energies. Crystals in alternative medicinal practices promote healing and balance in the body, mind, and spirit. Crystals are carried in pockets, worn as jewelry, placed on the body during meditation and therapy, or even used in home decor for ritual practices.
The concept of using crystals for healing dates back thousands of years to ancient civilizations like the Egyptians, Greeks, and Romans. They used gemstones for medicinal and spiritual purposes. Ancient Indian and traditional Chinese medicine also used crystals in their practices, such as acupuncture. However, in the 20th century, the New Age movement popularized the use of crystals in the West.
Crystals in the Bible
When we look at the Bible, we see that it also mentions crystals and stones in various instances:
- Job 28:17: Compares the value of wisdom to gold and crystals.
- Ezekiel 1:22: Describes a firmament resembling a crystal.
- Exodus 39:10-13: Discusses the breastplate of the Levitical high priest, having 12 stones.
- Revelation 22:1 and 4:6 mention crystal-clear waters and the area before God’s throne.
Even though we see the Bible making mention of crystals in this way, we don’t see it talking about the mystical healing properties of crystals or stones.
I believe that healing crystals are demonic. The Bible does not say that you can use stones to attract wealth, rekindle romance, or ward off evil spirits. Connection to God doesn’t require crystals.
Now, I do believe that there are instances where people have experienced relief by putting their faith in crystals. I believe this was because satan can cause miracles and healings. The way he often does it is by replacing that fear or sickness with something else in another area of the body. The Bible tells us that he comes to steal, kill, and destroy (John 10:10). He has no genuine love or compassion for people.
We, as Christians, have the word of God, the blood of Jesus, and the Holy Spirit for healing and protection, not stones, water, or other objects.
While crystals themselves are not evil, when we attribute magical or mystical powers to them, they can lead to idolatry and occult practices. We, as believers, must be cautious and discerning. We should avoid any objects or practices that claim to have supernatural powers apart from God.
