4 Reasons You Shouldn’t Give Up on Your Healing

Divine healing involves a supernatural act, outside of the natural realm, that resolves a physical, emotional, or spiritual problem. As Christians, we believe that it is God who flows to heal and deliver people today of all sorts of physical and emotional hurt.

When we read the Bible, we see the mention of healings over 138 times. In fact, healing makes up 1/5 of the gospel, that’s 20% of its teachings! God can heal naturally, medically, and supernaturally. And as believers, these stories encourage us to believe that these healings are not just stories of the past, but they are possible for us today.

Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever.

Hebrews 13:8

Other Religions Believe in Supernatural Healing

Most of the major world religions believe in some sort of supernatural healing:

● Islam uses Ruqya (incantations) to cure disease by countering black magic and casting out Jinn.

● Tibetan Buddhists employ Gso-wa Rig-pa, which includes elements of medicine, mantra, and meditation.

● Primitive cultures call upon witch doctors who use herbs, incense, and mysterious incantations to heal the sick.

● Modern Pantheism, such as New Age philosophy or cosmic humanism, uses various techniques derived from ancient, indigenous religions and the occult.

The difference between other religions that claim to heal and Christianity, is Jesus. People are seeking healing and they are oftentimes led to use different modalities of healing instead of going to the real Source which is Jesus. The Bible makes it clear that Jesus took our infirmities (Matthew 8:17) and that He is the only way (John 14:6).

Going to other modalities for healing will only lead to demonic oppression in another area of your life. The devil’s aim is not to make you well, but to destroy your life. Jesus is the only one who offers life and offers it more abundantly.

The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly.

John 10:10

4 Reasons to Not Give Up On Your Healing

1. It’s God’s Will to Heal You!

And behold, a leper came and worshiped Him, saying, “Lord, if You are willing, You can make me clean.” Then Jesus put out His hand and touched him, saying, “I am willing; be cleansed.” Immediately his leprosy was cleansed.

Matthew 8:2-3

Don’t keep questioning whether it’s His will. Take the Word of God and believe it for your circumstance. Just as healing was His will then, it’s His will now.

2. Healing is God’s Name.

If you diligently heed the voice of the LORD your God and do what is right in His sight, give ear to His commandments and keep all His statutes, I will put none of the diseases on you which I have brought on the Egyptians. For I am the LORD who heals you.

Exodus 15:26

Jehovah Rapha means The Lord Who Heals You. God is the Great Physician who heals His people. This truth in God’s name applies equally to emotional, psychological, and physical healing. You can call out to Him for your healing on the basis of His Word.

3. It’s God’s Promise to Heal.

Who forgives all your iniquities, who heals all your diseases.

Psalm 103:3

Past sins can often taint our minds and cause shame to linger in our memories and in our emotions. God desires to heal those areas just as much as He desires the healing of any physical disease you may be facing. This verse shows how David knew with certainty that it was God who he could rely on for his healing.

4. Jesus Paid For Your Healing On the Cross.

That it might be fulfilled which was spoken by Isaiah the prophet, saying: “He Himself took our infirmities and bore our sicknesses.”

Matthew 8:17

But He was wounded for our transgressions, He was bruised for our iniquities; The chastisement for our peace was upon Him, and by His stripes we are healed.

Isaiah 53:5

He Himself bore our sins in His body on the tree; by His wounds, you have been healed.

1 Peter 2:24

He also brought them out with silver and gold, and there was none feeble among His tribes.

Psalm 105:37

These are just a few of the verses that can root your faith in God’s healing power. When the moments of pain or uncertainty come, I encourage you to look to the cross. Look to the sacrifice that Jesus did on the cross. It was for you and I. Allow your faith to be rooted in what God’s Word says, instead of what your eyes are seeing.

Final Thoughts

The New Testament word for salvation is “sozo” which means to save, to deliver, to protect, to preserve, and to rescue from danger.

Put your faith in God’s Word and believe that you can have:

Sozo for the spirit (forgiveness).

He will save His people from their sins.

Matthew 1:21

Sozo for the body (healing).

And the woman was made well from that hour.

Matthew 9:22

And sozo for the soul (deliverance).

They also who had seen it told them by what means he who had been demon-possessed was healed.

Luke 8:36

Know His character, trust in His promises, and believe that He CAN still heal you today.

How to Memorize Scripture

Memorizing Scripture is not just for leaders, it is a part of our discipleship as Christians. Each believer should make it a habit to not just live in God's Word, but to have God's Word live inside of them.
