What You Need to Know About Marine Spirits

Marine spirits are demons that live in or operate through water. Many cultures, especially in Africa and the Caribbean, believe that these spirits control rivers, lakes, and oceans.

Traditionally, one of the common names for them was mami wata, which means “mother water.” This spirit took the form of a female mermaid-like spirit, often with a snake around her. She’s beautiful, seductive, and semi-white. People say she comes to them in dreams, calls them to serve her, even has sex with them, and sometimes gives them wealth in return for a favor.

However, being loyal to this spirit means trading your ability to have kids, and often a family member may even need to be sacrificed. Here’s what the Bible says about it and the potential signs that marine spirits may be operating in your life.

What Does the Bible Say?

In the Bible, we see that the sea often represents chaos and evil (Revelation 21:1). For instance, in Genesis, we see that God’s Spirit hovered over the waters (Genesis 1:2). Here are a few other examples seen in the Bible that connect the sea with chaos and rebellion against God, further showing us that marine spirits represent spiritual forces of disorder and opposition to God’s kingdom.

  • Leviathan – This is a sea serpent (Isaiah 27:1). In Psalms, God broke Leviathan’s head (Psalm 74:14). Leviathan is often used to symbolize kingdoms like Babylon which are evil and represent spiritual warfare.
  • Rahab – This is another sea monster, mentioned in Job and Isaiah. She’s tied to Egypt and demonic oppression (Job 26:12–13; Isaiah 51:9–10). Cutting Rahab shows God’s power over evil in the waters.
  • Legion and the pigs – Remember when Jesus cast demons into pigs? They ran into the sea and drowned (Mark 5:11–13). These demons preferred water. I don’t believe that was a coincidence.
  • Dagon the fish god – This god was worshiped by the Philistines and when they put the ark of God in his temple, Dagon fell and broke (1 Samuel 5). That was God showing He’s above every false god—even marine ones.
  • Revelation – In this book in the Bible, we see that the beast rises from the sea (Revelation 13:1). Again showing that the sea in the Bible is often a place connected with demonic power.

Signs You May Be Dealing with Marine Spirits

1. Witchcraft Attack Resulting in Misfortune

According to Uzukua, in a research article, stated that “Witches are held responsible for misfortunes in life, including road accidents, ultimately death, failure in examinations, lack in promotion in public service, barrenness in women, impotence in men, poverty, and inability to get married. These misfortunes are equally associated with mami wata as the source of evil. Witches are agents or representations of the water spirit.”

2. Spirit Spouse

Secondly is a spirit spouse. A spirit spouse is typically jealous and will ruin any real-life relationship that the individual has. It’s important to know that they can stop people from marrying or being happy in marriage—and sometimes, they’ll even try to kill a real spouse if that person is already married.

3. Constant Sexual Dreams

Another sign of a marine spirit in your life is having constant sexual dreams. Wet dreams or sex in dreams is not innocent. In fact, you should be aware because these dreams are signs that something deeper is going on spiritually. Mami wata is seductive and her beauty is seen as a symbol of temptation. She often exposes herself in dreams in order to tempt and control.

4. Unexplained Marital Problems

Next is sudden hatred, arguments, and rejection in relationships. This is especially true if they don’t make sense and seem random. These can be tell-tale signs of marine spirits.

Lastly, if you keep seeing mermaids or water spirits in dreams or visions, or have a constant fear of water, that could be a sign.
