Bible Verses and Prayers for Nightmares

If you have been struggling to sleep due to nightmares or demonic attacks in your sleep, taking time to pray and read God’s word before bed can be helpful. While I have detailed below a few of the Bible verses and prayers you can say, it’s important to remember that our walk with God and our pursuit of holiness begins way before bed. Therefore, we should strive to connect with God all day, not just at night to combat fears.

Bible Verses to Remember

These are key verses that I would encourage you to memorize, recite them daily, and claim them in prayer.

  • Psalm 91:5-6: “You shall not be afraid of the terror by night.”
  • Isaiah 54:17: “…No weapon formed against you shall prosper.”
  • Proverbs 3:24: “…When you lie down, your sleep will be sweet.”
  • Psalm 4:8: “…I will lie down in peace and sleep, for You alone, O Lord, make me dwell in safety.”
  • Luke 10:19: “I give you authority to trample on serpents and scorpions.”
  • Romans 16:20: “The God of peace will crush Satan under your feet shortly.”

3 Prayers Against Demonic Dreams

Use these as a simple base and outline of the kind of prayers you can say prior to your sleep and afterward.

1. Prayer for Protection Before Sleep

“Heavenly Father, I commit my mind, body, and spirit into Your hands tonight. I plead the blood of Jesus over my dreams and rebuke every demonic attack. Surround me with Your angels and let Your peace guard my heart and mind. In Jesus’ name, Amen.”

2. Prayer for Deliverance

“In the name of Jesus, I break every assignment of the enemy revealed in this dream. I command every spirit of fear, confusion, or oppression to leave me. I declare I am covered by the blood of Jesus, and no weapon formed against me shall prosper. Amen.”

3. Prayer for Spiritual Authority

“Lord Jesus, thank You for the authority You have given me over the power of the enemy. I bind every demonic spirit attempting to attack me in my dreams and cast them into the abyss. I declare freedom and peace over my sleep. In Jesus’ name, Amen.”
